Asst. Prof. Vihar Georgiev, PhD

 

Asst. Prof. Vihar Georgiev teaches "EU Policies - practicum", "Policies in Justice and Home Affairs", "Implementation of EU law”, “Information society”, and “An Introduction to Law." In 2011, he defended his doctoral thesis on "Procedures for implementation of the executive powers of the European Commission". He has specialized in History of the European integration in Palacky University, Czech Republic. Vihar Georgiev has over 20 publications on the institutional mechanism of the EU, EU immigration policy and EU border security policy. He also teaches at the Bulgarian Institute of Public Administration in Sofia. Currently, apart from his academic work, he is a project manager and consultant in the field of the administrative reform and the management of EU funds. He has participated in projects of the European Commission, European Parliament, the Bulgarian Council of Ministers, the Bulgarian Court of Auditors, Bulgarian National Health Insurance Fund, Bulgarian National Statistical Institute, and a number of Bulgarian municipalities. He is a member of the European University Association for European Studies (UACES), the International Political Science Association (IPSA), and the American Political Science Association (APSA). Vihar Georgiev is a referent for the Journal of European Public Policy, Journal of Common Market Studies, and European Security.
