The main focus of the Department of Political Science is to develop students’ abilities for independent, critical and rational understanding of political processes and phenomena in society. The offered courses are aimed at forming lasting knowledge about the organization and functioning of political systems and institutions, as well as to develop practical skills for the active use in future professional work. The main goal is formation of competences for the in-depth understanding and analysis of political phenomena and processes.
Our undergrads can take advantage of the Erasmus program during their studies, which provides an opportunity for academic exchange between Political Science and partner universities in the European Union. Our department also offers an international scholarship in American politics. Successful candidates have the opportunity to spend a year at the University of Washington, where they can participate in the development of international research with their American colleagues. Undergraduates will also spend one year in Washington D.C. with all costs covered by the host institution. In the last year of their studies, our young colleagues have the opportunity to choose between three academic profiles to set the foundations of their professional realization:
• International Relations and Security;
• European integration;
• National political process.
Before graduating, undergraduates must get an internship at a national or international institution related to their research and professional interests.
