The Faculty of Philosophy hosted the international forum “Exploring the Roots of Democratic Disengagement”

The Faculty of Philosophy at Sofia University hosted on April 3, 2026, the international forum “Exploring the Roots of Democratic Disengagement”, part of the DELIBERATE project (2026–2027), funded by the European Union, under the CERV programme.

Youth from Kosovo, Slovakia, Greece, and Bulgaria came together to exchange ideas on active civic participation and support for disengaged communities. Students from Sofia University actively contributed, representing disciplines such as Public Administration, European Studies, Political Science, International Relations, and Law, joined by MA and PhD students, whose inspiring perspectives helped foster dialogue and promote shared solutions for a more rights, equality and justice in democratic societies.

The forum was officially opened by Prof. DSc Sonya Karabeliova, Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr Albena Taneva, D. Hinkova, Y. Bushnyashki, and doctoral students from the Faculty.
